Removable dentures
When one or more teeth are lost, both the appearance and function of the teeth are affected. Chewing becomes more difficult, which can interfere with eating. If some natural teeth remain but the conditions are not suitable for fixed prosthetic solutions, a partial removable denture is used.
Removable prosthetics are dental replacements that the patient can take out and reinsert themselves. They are designed to replace several or all missing teeth when fixed solutions are not possible or appropriate.
There are two main types: partial and complete (full) dentures.
A partial denture fills the gaps between remaining teeth and is attached to them using clasps or other retention systems.
A complete denture replaces all the teeth in the upper and/or lower jaw. It also replaces soft tissues. Since there are no remaining teeth to anchor the denture, the retention of a full denture is generally weaker than that of a partial denture.
Modern removable dentures are aesthetic, functional, and comfortable to wear. While they do not offer the same stability as fixed solutions, they can significantly improve speech, chewing ability, and the appearance of your smile.
