Endodontic Treatment – Root Canal Therapy

Endodontic treatment, commonly known as root canal therapy, is a procedure used to save a tooth that has developed inflammation or necrosis of the dental pulp (nerve).
Inflammation usually occurs as a result of deep tooth decay, trauma, or a crack through which bacteria enter the inner part of the tooth.

How does the treatment work?

During the endodontic procedure:

  • The infected or dead pulp is removed from the root canals, both manually and mechanically.

  • The canals are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

  • They are then filled with a biocompatible material to prevent reinfection.

  • Finally, the tooth is sealed with a filling or a crown, depending on the extent of the damage.

The entire procedure is performed under local anesthesia and, thanks to modern materials and technology, is effective, safe, and pain-free.

We also require an X-ray image of the tooth both at the beginning and at the end of the treatment.
This is done directly in the dental chair, as our clinic is equipped with an in-house X-ray unit for localized imaging.

Why is endodontic treatment important?

  • It preserves your natural tooth and avoids the need for extraction.

  • It allows for normal chewing function and maintains aesthetics.

  • It prevents the spread of infection to surrounding tissues and bone.

Early treatment is essential – if you experience pain, sensitivity to hot or cold, swelling, or discoloration of the tooth, don’t wait. Book your appointment today and protect your smile.
