Calculus removal

We are aware that prevention is important and it is the right path to oral health and a beautiful smile.

With it, we can avoid many problems such as caries, bleeding gums, bad breath and other disease changes that can occur in the oral cavity.

Soft and hard dental plaque accumulates on the teeth, which contain bacteria that damage the gums. Initially gingivitis (inflammation of the gums), and then periodontitis (inflammation of the periodontal tissues) could manifest if the plaque is left untreated.

The plaque is removed professionally with a SONICflex appliance, and then the tooth surface is polished with polishing toothpaste. By regularly removing dental plaque (calculus), we maintain a beautiful appearance and healthy gums.

After calculus removal, we can also air polish teeth, thus removing all stains and plaque that are mainly caused by drinking coffee and black teas, smoking and other natural dyes that we consume while eating or drinking. With the KaVo PROPHYflex device, we treat all tooth surfaces, making the teeth smoother and restoring their whiteness and shine. Calculus removal is recommended at least once a year, and with some patients even as often as every three months. The actual assessment of the need to clean calculus is assessed at the time of the visit.

Oral hygiene instruction and advice

Oral hygiene instruction and advice is an important part of our work, as patients can do the most for their oral health at home.

Proper cleaning of teeth with a toothbrush, floss and interdental brushes is essential to maintain oral health. The knowledge of cleaning teeth is good to renew, as new cleaning tools are always coming to the market; also, we eventually forget the proper cleaning techniques.

Good oral hygiene is especially important if the patient is being treated with a fixed orthodontic appliance, or has a fixed prosthetic construction on the teeth or implants, as in this case cleaning the teeth is more demanding.

If you have questions about oral hygiene, please ask us during the examination in our practice and we will be happy to answer.
